How to cancel Amazon Prime

Not verified on Amazon's own site Confidence: Medium Last verified Oct 15, 2026

US price: $14.99 per month or $139 per year (since Feb 2022, press). Source: PressCNBC, Feb 3, 2022, Prime price increase

Intro price vs. renewal price

None found in our sources.

Checked Oct 15, 2026.

Steps

  1. Sign in to your Amazon account, open the Account menu, and choose Your account.
  2. Select Prime membership.
  3. Under Manage membership, select Update, cancel and more, then End membership.
  4. Amazon shows the benefits you'd lose. Select Continue to cancel.
  5. Choose whether to end today (with a refund that depends on the days left in your cycle) or at your renewal date, then select End membership now (or the renewal-date option).

Notice period

None in our sources. You can end the membership today or at your renewal date.

Refunds and fees

Per CNET: if you end the membership today, Amazon refunds the unused days in your cycle. On an annual plan, cancelling halfway through the year returns about half the fee. Separately, the FTC's 2025 settlement set up refunds for people signed up through the enrollment flows it challenged, between Jun 23, 2019 and Jun 23, 2025, who used few Prime benefits. Check ftc.gov/Amazon for the current status.

If you pay through an app store, PayPal, or another company

  • Signed up through an app store? General app-store steps: Apple, Settings → your name → Subscriptions; Google Play, Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. We have no source saying which Prime sign-ups are billed this way.

Offers you may see before you leave

  • Switch to monthly instead of yearly.
  • Pause your membership on your renewal date instead of cancelling.
  • Wait and end the membership on your renewal date.
  • Under the 2025 FTC order, Amazon must offer an easy way to cancel Prime, using the same method you used to sign up, and a clear button to decline Prime.

If it doesn't work

  • CNET notes Amazon's help page has an End membership button that jumps straight to the cancel page.
  • If cancelling is hard or you were enrolled without meaning to be, you can report it at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.

Steps and refund rules come from a CNET walkthrough and the FTC's settlement, not Amazon's own pages. The price comes from 2022 press; we found no later US change.
